AUDIO WORK DETAILS
Overview of the Audio Work
In this project, I had the opportunity to work on both music composition and sound design, bringing to life a narrative that combines memory preservation with the visual representation of Black personalities in history. The soundtrack was carefully composed to evoke emotions and create a deep connection between the characters and their ancestry. At the same time, the sound design complements the scenes, giving life to the visual details and providing an immersive sensory experience.
The fusion between music and sound was essential to highlight the strength and dignity of the portrayed characters, reflecting the historical struggle of these communities and their ongoing quest for justice and recognition. My audio work here is, above all, a celebration of resistance, beauty, and identity.
Focus on Sound Design
The sound design for this project was fundamental in building the atmosphere that connects the audience to the characters’ journey and their stories. Every sound was designed to evoke a sense of belonging and ancestry, creating a profound and sensory auditory experience. From ambient noises, which help situate the viewer in the depicted contexts, to the more subtle details like footsteps or the movement of clothes, each element was carefully synchronized to enhance the visual and emotional impact of the scenes.
Additionally, the sound of voices and audio mixing were worked on to ensure the narratives were heard with clarity and respect, emphasizing the power of the story and the collective memory of these Black communities.
Focus on Music Composition
The music composition for this project was designed to be both powerful and delicate, balancing sounds that deeply resonate with the emotions and stories of the characters. The soundtrack accompanies the narrative organically, with melodies that highlight the strength of the portrayed figures, while also bringing a tone of contemplation and memory.
Each instrument was carefully chosen to create a sound that echoes ancestry and cultural pride. The music incorporates traditional Brazilian rhythms and typical instruments, such as the berimbau, which brings a direct connection to Afro-Brazilian roots. This musical choice creates an atmosphere that celebrates the identity and resilience of these communities, adding authenticity and emotional depth to the narrative.
The transition between more introspective moments and grander passages is key to capturing the essence of the struggle and resilience of these communities.
